General Description:

The Saint Olaf Catholic School and parish requires that all staff/faculty members have a clear understanding of the missions of the school, the school's charisms, and acceptable business practices in relation to Church teachings. Our building and ground staff will be responsible for maintaining the school building and grounds. Responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe maintenance, renovation, and upkeep of parish buildings and grounds. Primary duties include supervising the preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and property for the church and school. Central systems include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, fire safety, energy management, irrigation, and grounds. May manage outside contractors. The building and grounds staff is a working position and will require that they perform routine to mid-level maintenance functions.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Familiarity with the Catholic Church/Catholic Schools.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and must work effectively in an inclusive environment.
• Ability and willingness to collaborate with others.
• Ability to be self-motivated and work independently.
• Ability to diagnose and perform necessary to mid-level repairs.
• Ability to think critically and plan accordingly.
• Ability to adapt and adjust to a changing priority list.
• Ability to demonstrate craftsmanship including carpentry/painting skills.
• Ability to understand, use and willingness to learn technology systems.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., work from ladders, and operate equipment.
• Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to be on-call for emergencies.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

• Collaborate effectively with the school principal and parish pastor.
• Regular and punctual attendance.
• Familiarity with all Diocesan/School policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by proper authority and an ability to comply.

• Strong organizational skills.

General Responsibilities:

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
• Schedules cleaning and landscape contract services and monitors work done on the premises by these outside providers.
• Conducts repairs on the premises, including moderate level HVAC repairs as needed.
• Performs cleaning and disinfecting as required.
• Sets up for meetings and student assemblies within the building as needed.
• Applies universal precautions in cleaning practices.
• Collaborates with others to enhance the work environment
• Conducts emergency cleanups and repairs as needed
• Maintains the grounds and outdoor equipment.
• Maintains the inventory of facility equipment,
• Maintains gymnasium equipment and cleanliness as needed.
• Performs periodic maintenance activities of safety equipment, filters, and lighting as needed.
• Assists with other outside contractors as required Communicates maintenance and repair issues to the principal.
