Hello Saint Olaf Catholic School! Thank you so much for your willingness to again support a cause near and dear to our family, the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Primary Children's Hospital. The Family Room provides families with inpatient children a place to eat, sleep, and unwind during what is, for many, one of the most difficult periods of their lives. We became familiar with the Family Room when our youngest son, Luke, was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a catastrophic form of childhood epilepsy. Luke had several stays at Primary's during the weeks following his diagnosis. In the years since, Primary's and the Family Room have come to feel like a second home and many of the doctors like family. I truly believe that the Family Room plays an important role in the hospital by giving family members a place to go and relax free of charge while still being close to their child or sibling.
Luke still sees his neurologist and ophthalmologist at Primary's regularly, as well as his physical therapist and occupational therapist here in Bountiful at the Primary Children's Rehab Center. Luke consistently reminds us to find joy in the little things (like watching windshield wipers!) and to choose happiness!
