GETTING TO KNOW MRS. RIXNER:
Tell us about yourself:
Hey y’all, I’m Mrs. Sharon Rixner and I love teaching, dinosaurs and animals of all kinds. I am currently working on My PhD in psychological science with emphasis on instruction and cognition. I graduated with my Masters in Biological Science from Western Governors University and my Bachelor of Education prior to that.
I have a beautiful family; my husband and I have been married for 20 years and we have a 22-year-old son and a 26 year old daughter. We have 2 cats, a dog and 1 bearded dragon. My life is devoted to teaching and being a lifelong learner.
If you could have lunch with 1 person dead or alive, who would that be and why?
My grandmother. Her light was so bright, and I would have loved one more minute of it.
What is something on your Bucket List?
Mostly I want to travel. Achieving my PhD is a huge item I am striving to add to my bucket list of accomplishments.
What is your favorite thing about teaching or working with young people?
The wow factor. I love learning with scholars just as much as teaching them.
How would a friend describe you in three words?
Eccentric, outgoing, passionate
If you had to compare yourself to one fictional character, who would it be?
Miss Frizz is the school teacher in the Magic School Bus. She is truly my hero and I strive to empower the love of learning in a unique way like she does.
When are you most yourself?
When I am around an ocean, lake, river or stream. I love being around water.
What could you spend all day talking about?
DINOSAURS
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Homework currently, I also enjoy crafting, backing, sewing, and playing with my animals.
