About Me

Welcome to Fifth Grade!
My name is Lisa Barrington.  I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Elementary Education in December 1998.  I started my teaching career at St. Olaf teaching second grade and was here for five years before moving to the Tooele County School District.  I am so excited to be back at St. Olaf's!
I was born and raised in Tooele, and still live there today.  In my spare time I like to read, travel, go to plays, hang out with my family and friends, and be referee to my 2 dogs and 2 cats.
My mission, as the classroom teacher, is to instill a sense of confidence and values in my students which will allow them to become life-long, Christ-centered learners.

I forgot to add a few more items...
We will not be having a spelling test next week.  They will, however, be required to complete (during class) spelling assignments.  We will also not have math homework (possibly on Monday there will be homework --  I will see how well the students do the assignment during class).  We are continuing dividing decimals.
Ugly sweater day will be on Monday.  The students can wear jeans instead of uniform pants
Tuesday...Spirit night at Zuppa's from 5:00 -- 9:00 pm recess or lunch

Friday, December 14

Happy Friday!
Remember, 5th grade is hosting Mass on December 21.  The bishop will be presiding over the Mass.  If your child is reading for Mass, I sent home a copy of his/her part(s) to read.  Please make sure they practice for 10-15 minutes every day.  The Christmas program will be at 11:00.  There will also be no EDP that afternoon.

Dec. 7

Most of the students did well on Chapter 4's math test.  It was a difficult test, and I'm very proud of how well they all did.
Our next chapter in math will be dividing decimals.  It should take us right until Christmas break -- if it takes us longer, we will review when we come back from break, and have our test the next week.
Fifth grade will be hosting Mass on December 21.  The Bishop will be presiding over the Mass.  Our Christmas program will also be that day.
Have a great day.
