Homework for the Week of Oct.-Nov. 29 - 2, 2018

Pumpkin Book Reports
Have students select a book and read it or pick a book that your student has read already for the Reading Challenge.
 
•Focus your discussion on the characters in the story.
•Pick one character and create your character on a pumpkin either real or a foam pumpkin.
•Decorate it, paint it, glue things to it, and just let students get creative!
•Have students complete the attached cover page, book report and character traits pages.
 

Please have your student bring his or her character pumpkin, book report, character traits, and book by October 30th.

 
35 Book Reading Challenge
 
Books must be at least 100 pages to count for this challenge. If a book is less than 100 pages or substantially below the student’s reading level, we have classified the book as a “quick read” book. Students may count up to 5 quick reads for the challenge. A book over 250 pages will count for 2 books in that genre; 375 = 3 books; 500 = 4 books; 600 = 5 books; etc.

When finished with a book, add it to your BiblioNasium account. You can see what genre the book fits under by looking up the book on BiblioNasium, Amazon or Scholastic. Page numbers can also be found on Amazon. BiblioNasium Logins can be found in student planners.

Students need to choose ONE spelling activity to complete each day and then turn in FOUR activities on FRIDAY. Please make sure student's name is on the homework and that students complete each activity completely! Parents, please make sure students are completing their spelling homework and please sign the activity on the spelling paper. In order to be successful on their Spelling test, students MUST do their homework each night or else they will not do well.

Mass Thursday, November 1st

Hello!
I just wanted to let everyone know that 4th grade will be hosting Mass on Thursday, November 1st. This is very special because it is All Saints Day. Everyone is invited to join us at 9:00 am on Thursday. Students received their readings yesterday to take home and practice. Thanks so much and I hope we see you there!

Math Homework Tonight

I just wanted to let everyone know that tonights homework is different. Students were not ready to move on to the next lesson, so we did some review of area models in class. I graded the homework from last night and I would like students to make corrections. We did some corrections in class today from the homework. I have also sent home a 3.4 paper that has 6 problems as extra practice. Thanks so much!

"Why are we learning about Science in Social Studies?" said by a 4th grader. It was fun learning about Utah's geography, while learning about the Water Cycle. Students enjoyed making their own Water Cycle in a bag.

Midterms sent on 9/24

I just wanted to let everyone know that Midterms went home with students today. Please sign and have students return them tomorrow. Please email me if you have any questions or concerns. 

This week, we had some fun with circuits in Science Class. Students had to make the bulb light up. They were able to see how a circuit is a loop and if you break the loop the bulb no longer works.
